So what is this?

Well if you're up to date with the current comic [link] then you're full aware of some of the key plot points that helped luna to have a human life instead of having a more lupine one, isn't? If not you should read the last 10 pages carefully before to proceed.

So, if there exist other werewolves hiding in anthera... what are their stories?
How have they lived? Maybe you have the answer!

You're free to come up with your own ideas, a male or female werewolf character. The best developed storylines and characterization will get drawn at the end of the contest.

The contest will be opened Until November 13. And the character should appear on Nov. 16.

Finally the the circle is closed and I'm back were the comic was left back in 2008. Since Febraury this year and due my self-publishing work  the comic was revamped and uploaded again week after week as I worked in the distribution that took most of my time during the past 9 months.

And here we are, I just hope old readers get back now and make themselve comfortable as I dig into the new season of chapter 3. Things will get definitively hairy....sorry for the pun xp.

Anyhow, for now I'm planning one week updates for next coming every Friday. BUT as soon as I get some comissions done I have my plans to duplicate Luna's rate.

Also, there is one important notice regarding my RL. My family, specially my mother need full care because next week is having a delicated operation (Hearth Bypass). I have faith that everything will come out well ! I have my soul and heart praying for a good outcome. Any good wishes will be most welcome.

I had this character sketch for sometime around so I decided to put it up as a teaser. She is not Luna's in red hair :p, actually is a new character to be intrduced later in chapter 4, but I couldn't resist to play a bit with here before we get there. No, she be won't a bike-girl :P.  Or could She be?! *dramatic background music*
Anyhow this drawing is not yet finished since it kinda croped and a few color layers are still missing, but until then I hope you like it.

Anyhow, I'm letting you know that I'm working on the new pages but due the event I predicted I was worn out this weekend to take the job, done. So I'm moving the premiere for new pages for Friday.

Ok guys, we're in the last corner for the big return of new pages. What I didn't expected is that a few thing were coming to happen in the same dates. For that reason and to start with the right foot I'm slowing down recent updates. Not intentionally I just updated 4 pages last week due I had to attend an expo and now is due the ammount of work I had this upcoming week.

So I won't upload more than these 3 pages (up to page 23 today) and next week I'll add the last 3 (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) of the old pages. So we'll get to new pages in October 19.

Starting Oct 19 my rythm will be 2 pages a week but if I get too much job, examns or what not I'll let you know and you may only see one page a week like it used to be. So I'm not promising anything for sure, just that I'll do my best :)

What's up? Well to begin Luna has twitter!...everybody "yaaay". Since Alphaluna was taken you can follow your favorite Werewolf girl at the username @alphalunanet :) . Luna has also a youtube channel, it doesn't have much... but it's there :P.

In other news as you recently noticed I added a new strip which to be fair it was conceived due the response and feedback I got as the first pages of Fang encountering Luna appeared (chapter 2). I really apreciate discussion, predictions, wathever :) and this gave me the opportunity to work and have some extra fun. Specially since some people believed these were some ploteholes around this subjects.

Still there was one point I couldn't adress due the strip lenght and that's it, someone who isn't used to something....a particular scent, can't recognize it. And in Fang's case, would be women. Fang got his werewolves skills at the age of 15, and at that time...no trying to spoil anything I'd say he wasn't around of girls that much. Actualy he was very isolated,why?, how?, where? That's up for the comic itself. So yeah... werewolves may recognize the opposite sex by scent, but not if he/she isn't used to it, and that's an attribute most wolves gain around packs.

Hey! que se cuenta? Para empezar Alfa Luna tiene twitter. Hace poco estaba usando otra cuenta pero decidí usar una mas acorde al comic en sí. Acá:  @alphalunanet, Luna también tiene un canal youtube...no tiene mucho pero algo hay XD.

En otras noticias en Santiago de CHILE Alfa Luna estará en la exposición EXPOMANGA 2009 la que tendrá muchos artistas, dibujantes y comiquistas exponiendo obras respecto al estilo nipón y otros. La muestra empieza en Octubre durante todo el mes. Pueden encontrar mas información en el sitio web y en el facebook de Alfa Luna, si es que tienen claro. Desde ya todos los Chilenos invitados  :)

I just came from the exclusive screening of 20 minutes of the upcoming film by James Cameron: "Avatar" (well more or less thousand of selected people also saw it around the world) . Oh and please don't confuse it with the animated show "Avatar" which is also being moved into the silver screen by M. Night Shyamalan and it will be called "The Last Air Bender".

Avatar by James Cameron (Terminator, The Abyss, Aliens) is s new sci-fi adventure movie that is schedueled to be released in December. I was lucky enough to gain an invitation a few days ago and being afraid to fall into the hype I just went into the cinema yesterday waiting to see something interesting and new and no more. What I saw is something that I wasn't expecting at all and it just blew my mind.

Avatar blend together real human actors with a new world entirely generated into a computer which includes beautifull...i mean BEATIFULL creatures beyond belief. And I considered myself a non cgi sucker... really, this film puts cgi into a direction where it can perfectly compared to art in movement. It's not about creating a cgi character anymore (like Gollum) and making him be part of the real world..is about taking real people and making a fantasy world become part of them, and how these "fantasy actors" (because that is what this blue guys are...not just cgi) can create and express human emotion. And if you'd ask me "Final Fantasy: The spirits Within" now stands like a muppet show in comparision.

Technically is a ground breaking experience that bring new life to what cgi can really do! Not just the next Pixar, Shrek film anymore... finally Avatar make a step beyond as show us what kind of direction this medium can take if you give it a chance to be creative.

And now comes a few spoilers of what I saw in the screening...be aware that as Cameron said in the introduction what I saw were just samples of a few scenes of the first act and don't tell much about the whole story and conflict of the movie...so it's up to you. Without further to add let's dig into it.....

The first scene that I saw was a a bunch of people, marines I guess discussing a plan of battle where the main character makes his appearance. Jake (played by Sam Worthington - Terminator Salvation) is a guy who is handicapped waist down. The scene was pretty much standard and the speech was conducted by a high rank officer with a few scars over his head that makes him look fearsome. My fault was that I couldn't follow much of the plot point here since I was getting used to the 3D glases and trying to read the subtitles in 3D is kinda confusing to begin with. (My first language is spanish but I can understand 90% of good english), so I still preffer to read the movies time to time.

Anyhow the scene is followed by the appearece of Sigourney Weaver as a doctor of the medical center where Jake is introduced. If I recall He is told that his essence will be transplanted to a new body, his soul? Wathever , he isn't the only one in this experiment and what is more the new bodies are 12-feet blue aliens with a prehensile tail with beatifull golden eyes. And I'm being fan on Anthropomorphic creatures... was stunned. They look fenomenal and what really takes your interest is how they act. Jakes enjoy so much being in his new body that he jumps out of the medical bed with the cables and all and it's just fun to watch.

From there we jump into the wilderness, a jungle in which the "new" Jake is being accompained for a few people... I can't recall very much but they are attacked by something like a panther and Jake is chased as the animal breaks anything in its path unti Jake is finally cornered, he decides to start shooting like crazy to get rid of the beast. I need again add how amazing the design are. The "panther" has an unique feel that makes me feel that came out directly from a new Rpg game, half dinosaur, half insect and half carnivore. I also have to notice how 3D really enhances the visual and how the trees give so much ambience and deep to the shots....just a delight.

The next scene was Jake meeting Neytiri played by Zoe Saldana, who is a native blue girl, and oh boy I need to say it...but blue and all she looks sexy, what?. At this point I was wondering are they the enemies of the human race? is Jake mission to infiltrate and become one of them? all of which are just assumptions... but it didn't matter, both "fantasy actors" were really driving the story with convincing facial expressions and its background really made everything looks even better...the visuals, the light of the night and those little details were unique, charming and just lovely to watch.
I need to explain that the only and last time I watched a 3d film was "Freddy's death" and oh boy it was bad... thus I never fell into the need to waste extra money to go and look the new 3d movies of nowdays...now and thanks to Avatar I consider a MUST now, specially for this kind of film. Really, the 3D elemnts don't punch you in the face and they don't show you "look this is coming out of the screen" for the sake of it, to the contraty they were present but being part and making me feel the deep of the enviorments and the space between the actors and this world background....

Back into the screening the next scene was out of this world... Jake is now part of a tribal group with Neytiri and is being pushed to realize some sort of act where he has to tame a f*cking dragon!...well sort of a Dragon that eventually becomes his mount as he falls with it from a cliff and makes everything he can to fly it. The landscape of the scene and the ammount of creatures with beatifulll design just makes me to predict an oscar for the Art Design involved in Avatar, it totally deserves it.

To finalize I just can say ... it's a must see for the pure visual pleasure. But in the end only the story wise will tell us if is up to its hype. Let's hope it's... Cameron hasn't disappointed us before and I believe he won't.

(Page 27, Ch2) Before you jump into sudden conclussion "Lycan" is just an abbreviation of Lycanthrope and in Alpha Luna's lore is used to reffer to Werewolves or to these in their ultimate form, which is the classic Hybrid-one (As Luna looks now). In the past to define diferent forms I had "therian" for this shape, but I recently realized that it wasn't a good idea, since that term was in my knowledge already part of a different belief about anthropomorphic culture.  Since I didn't want to mix different ideas and create a problem I decided to drop the termn in favor of "therians" out there. I know already that Lycan was used in "Underworld", but as you see their lore was related to define a species above a less evolved one. But in the end Lycan is just an abbreviation of the real folkore of Lycanthropes, no more and for this reason I don't see a problem in using it here.
The other term "Anthro" is still applicable and define Fang's form at this part of the comic. That's about it. :)

I recently realized that I totally misinterpreted a cliche phrase. This happens when you wrongly believe that some things work both way. You see, in page 15 of chapter 2 Fang said "I'm gonna rule this world" which is statement that I used to hear in movies and other media... and with time I related it to my spanish native language as "Voy a conquistar el mundo" that it's also a common cliche phrase used in many movies by villian and other kind... and you see I related it both, Wrong!
"Conquistar" means to conquer and it has a whole other meaning for Fang when he says this big word. Where "Rule" has a political meaning, "Conquer" is more broad word that is directly related to his charisma. Fang pretends to become someone capable to the best over the entire world... the strongest? the leader of something?...who knows, but certanly is not becoming a political figure, neither a wolf-war ;) . So, of course! if you check that page you'll notice that change.... and yeah I'm an avid viewer-reader of ThatGuywithTheGlassess (TGWTG.com). If you don't get the Bison quote "of course!" xD... check the site, it's worth for the Nostalgia Critics Reviews.

Pages 5, 6 and 14 Ch2 were updated again due a wrong upload since I put the original versions and not the newer ones, you may download them again. Also, you need to remember that I'm uploading pages that I did during 2006 and as I'm just updating them which require a few minutes of my time. The problem is that AlphaLuna.net doesn't have a scheduele automatic upload, thus I can storage upcoming pages beforehand and I'm obligated to do it manually every day. And since I've just moved to my new apartmen! wo-ho!...I don't have internet access yet...argh.

Some people may wonder why I don't upload all the pages in one punch?. Certanly as I said in the past I'd do so... but also due the ammount of new readers, and my recent printed auto-publishing I decided to not spoil to new comers still keeping the promise. As you should remember 6 pages a week is by far a NOT normal updating rate. Normally I used to take 1 page each week and sometimes 2 page a week... and when the time comes at the middle of Chapter 3 you'll have to slowdown your reading gear to normal..xD. I'm just warning you guys, I really apreciate all the feedback but I just hope that when I get back to my normal updating rate you realize that this is it the real deal, the new stuff.

For now I really really apreciate all the comments at the shout box... but why dont you use the forum?..XD I'd love to see that spot a little more active time to time :). And as I said previously I'm taking this time also to do comissions and updating the site which will have a massive re-design. Stay tuned...:)

I'm leaving today pages 25 (Which was suppoused to appear yesterday) and page 26 (Monday's) since I'm not sure at what hour I'll be online again.

Sorry for the lack of updates Since monday but I've just moved to a new apartment where I dont have Internet access, worst for me for losing my pendrive :-s.

My Rant of the week:
In other news... how come that suddenly a guy showing his bodybuild torso is just enough to say those werewolves are cool? I'm talking about Twilight: New moon. I haven't had the chance to see the film, I mean the first one for lack of interest and time...but since this one has werewolves in it I may give it a chance. But seriously, I've seen the werewolf sequence from the trailer of New Moon edited like...10 times, slow motion here! slow motion edited version there! at you tube or DA and people saying "Oh my gosh is so hot!" "this gonna be the best movie 4ver"...what the hell?. I just saw a *poof* transformation thats hidden by the fact that the clothes rip off for no reason. And what is that jumping for?...Do werewolves have circuss carrer now?... Anyway. Maybe I'm just being to harsh, but at least the werwolves looks wolf like... but why using cgi then? :P
Too complains for now. I'll give it a chance when the times come, I guess.

In other werewolves news my friend Michael told about "Trick r' Treat" which happens to feature a more adult and savage aproach to the myth with some "bitches" in it. It's a movie that's being on hold for a long time (Since 2007)

So I really don't know what to expect. Since Ginger Snaps I haven't seen any good "grrl" related... you know what I mean :p.  And apparently the same director is preparing a new tv series for the Fox called "Bithces"...what are the odds. He may like them as much as we do, lol ;)

I know I'm behind scheduele. Last week I manage to put 5 pages up instead of 6 due a con where I got to seel the magazines and I didn't have access to the internet for 1 day.

As you see part of the dialogue of Collie was erased and this was due I realized how out of character was that little dialogue for Collie...as for Fang he just looked horrible. So that it what happens when you draw pages when you're too tired to ralize what are you doing wrong xp.

For those who wonder what the hell I'm doing meanwhile I upload old pages...well I'm doing a lot of things...one of those things is the updating of the website looks which my friend Pedro is helping me. Also I'm doing some comissions here and there now that I can and buying a lot of things since I'm moving to a new flat.

Español: Algunos quizás noten que la versión en español del comic va detrás de la versión en inglés y esto se debe a que el ritmo de publicación es distinto. En español sólo estoy subiendo 3 páginas semanales mientras que la inglesa lleva 6. Esto se debe a la versión impresa que se distribuye en mi país por lo que el numero 2 se esta serializando a este ritmo para que todos tengan la posibildiad de seguir la historia en preparación para su posterior publicación a finales de éste año (Si es que todo sale bien).

As you see a lot happened in June, I auto published my comic in my country and so  far it has been a crazy experience. So far I've attended 1 con, but the aftermath work, publicity and specially the distribution hand by hand to every single store it has been a hard work, but a satrisfactory work nonetheless.
I still promise I'll be working now into the pitching of the comic and see the chance to get it published for north american or international people out there. Wish me luck about that.

Review del Lanzamiento Alfa Luna nº1

Éxito! Es la primera palabra que se me ocurre para resumir lo que fue la jornada del día Sábado en la Anime-Expo de Santiago de Chile. Fue un día intenso que no me dio muchos respiros para curiosear como creí ilusamente. Para comenzar, llegué acompañado con Eduardo Barraza -Organizador de la ConCómics de Valparaíso- (A la que vamos a fin de año) un poco antes de las 10 de la mañana. Un poco atrasado, pero lo suficiente para estar listos para recibir a la gente que entraría una hora mas tarde.

La primera persona en estar “al pie del cañón” era Ternovik, mi compadre quien engrisa las nuevas páginas del cómic que ya sacaba cuentas de que hacer con los derechos por si me había pasado algo  por el atraso (jajaja, iluso).

El lugar era amplio y algo frío sobre todo en las primeras horas de la mañana. Y los Stand se separaban en 3 ramas: Videojuegos, Tiendas de Venta y Dibujantes Expositores. Habían pantallas gigantes , una galería para un escenario al que luego irían un montón de gente disfrazada para inagurar el evento cosplay.

Lo primero que hice fue repartir el cómic a los compañeros artistas para que vieran si les gustaba lo suficiente para quedarse con una copia para el final del día. Desde ya los saludos a los chicos de Adam 6.0 que debutaron su cómic en un stand cercano (visiten su web), a la gente de Cosplay Zone y otros que no recuerdo que aprobaron Alfa Luna con un dedo arriba.
A quien debo retar es a Nobita que en último momento no fue cuando se había a comprometido con Ternovik a ser los vendedores oficiales! Un Dardo a la distancia xp, pero entiendo que su tienda estaba primero (igual nomás!). En su reemplazo llegó “Alejandro 2”, que fue nuestro corresponsal fotográfico y que podrán ver en varias fotos posando con mas de una chica a su lado! (pssst, es casado).

Y así cuando entraba tímidamente la gente a primeras horas del día, no fue sino Wan, mi compadre y amigo -admin- en el foro quien llegó a comprar la primera revista de Alfa Luna!! Wooooo! Eso si que no me lo esperaba. Si hasta compró polera!! (Que no estaban a la venta xp). Un gran abrazo a él por que nos acompaño durante todo el día.

Pasado el medio día llegó mi hermano David a ayudar (cosa que me sorprendió) -creó que por fin ha leído mi cómic :P- y junto a un amigo mío, el Jerry, quien ya tenía polera de Luna desde hace un tiempo para por fin darle el uso correspondiente!

Pasada las horas con toda esta gente fue mas que grato vender, conversar y firmar, firmar y firmar! Recuerdo a más de una persona decir que ya seguían el cómic en forma online desde antes, lo que me llenó de alegría ser reconocido cara a cara. Una chica en especial me mencionó que su profesor le había recomendado el cómic y que desde entonces lo leía, wow! (Me contaron que se fue con la revista con sus manos sosteniéndola junto a sus mejillas o.O). Conversé con más gente y hasta me ofrecieron ser profesor de dibujo por ahí (Clases particulares). Todo bien!

Mucha gente leyó el cómic en el mismo Stand y fue grato que al acabarlo decidieron sin titubear comprarlo :). Sentí mucha satisfacción en ese sentido y el día paso volando. Muy tarde y con un par de minutos libres, gracias a mi hermano y los chicos que me acompañaron logré comer un pollo y papas con bebida.
Creo que los demás disfrutaron mas del panorama que yo, habían chicas muy bellas en el cosplay como la jueza invitada y maestra en el asunto Franchesca Dani que vistió de Hilda de Polaris (Saint Seiya). Vi por ahí clases de doblaje improvisado y todo tipo de fanáticos.
Pero toda jornada llega a un final y poco antes mi primo Feña logró “colarse” antes que cerraran para lograr adquirir mi cómic! XD. Me quedaste debiendo 10 lucas! Pero bueno. Con todo el grupo nos fuimos a conversar y tomarnos un relax en un mall cercano.
11 De la noche, de vuelta a casa.

Fue una jornada casi perfecta, que me da mucho ánimo para las siguientes que vendrán, sobre todo con el apoyo incondicional de mis amigos a quienes no esperaba en forma tan numerada. Como le dije a mi hermano este es es uno de muchos pasos, sólo espero seguir en el buen camino. Saludos!

This is due the coppermine gallery that I used to run was a magnetic thing fr spyware and stuff, so I'm getting rid of it. This week I got the first copy printed of Luna Issue nº1, and it's fel great to have somehow have closed this chapter. Soon I'll be preparing myself for the big event in my country. wish me luck.
For the international future release,  I'm trying to pitch the comic and see if someone would like to publish it, I have to try.

That's all by now. Page 25 conclude the 100% new pages for this second edition of Alpha Luna nº1, revision but updates of pages are not over and you'll see panels here and there with some changes for pages to come. Anyway,take care and thanks for stoping by and read my comic.

Just in case for those who don't remember, the new shades for the pages are being done not by me but by my friend Jano (aka Ternovik) and he comes to work on they after I dod the line work. he is sometimes busy but I preffer to post the line work and move into new pages to speed the process of work. Is how I di it...and for those more hardcore readers if you visit the site frequentlu you come to see what others on't before they got shades, everybody wins , no? :P

For english speakers, as I said in the previous entrey the comic is being published here in my country. So lets be patience for the 2nd edition which it will be english. But.... if you consider to get the spanish edition anyway, there is always a chance. Let me know if that happens to be your case. They will be ready through the second week of June.

For those interested in other werewolves and trasformations comics. I'm doing a separate mini comic which involves a girl and fur ;). It has an adult aproach, so be aware. It's fully colored and if everything goes alon I'll be posting 2 new pics every week, check Luna's forum at The creativ Den.

My aplogies for the people who didn't notice news from since I couldn't enter to livejournal due ip blocking or something. I left a small blog status a few days ago, here is a copy paste of what I've been doing:

Hello guys!
For some reason I haven't been able to login into my livejournal (Luna's web journal) from my current location, ip block or something, I really don't know.

So I'm here letting you know what I've been doing so far:

1- Apartments!, I've endured 32º C degree at sun checking about 20 places where I'll be going to live next. I didn't expect to take more than a few days...but 1 week later I'm still with paper work. So yeah, basically I'm moving soon to not travel that much between my Collage and home = More time to draw! yay!. I expect that to happen in the upcoming weeks.

2- I got a publishing deal with a friend for Alpha Luna Issue 1. Bad news?, the first edition will most likely to be Spanish. Why?, because since it will be a local -city- distribution, I'll get money back right away. Thus second edition would be english.

When?, I'm trying to put a date for June if evreything goes right.

4- I know everytime I miss a date I start bashing my head with the table (it has a lot of holes I know) as a few of you start playing with a vodoo doll of me >.>, but I'm helpless to place a time of work when I'm taking so much to draw one page, specially when I'm trying to produce something better of what I did in the begining (back in 2005). Things need to change right now.... So I've got the help a great person which is a great artist. I don't wanna spoil what her part will be on the comic itself, but I'll let you know when it happens.

Update note, I'm getting a place for the Anime-Expo Convention her in Chile where I'm realising in paper book Alpha Luna (spanish edition). I'll be taking photos and stuff so you'll be seeing what is like.
In a side note, some of you guys should undertsand that even if I've not posted anything new over the website it doesn't mean I'm not doing anything. You don't realize how much I've wrote and worked over the sript again and again :P, Yeah I'm stubborn if I don't get it right.

I'm doing a lot of things, and that means I'm preparing and setting the table for what will happen when the comic starts rolling. I still feel I haven't begn the comic but rather set the place to make the things work out. And I repeat, this year will be very special -add a wink here- , take care, just lurk around here some time to time and you'll see, thanks to all.

Bad timing for get disconnected *shrugs*, yeah things have been a little complicated for me to pay the bills. But I'll go through.  The past few days I went to inscribe myself for another year of collage, hope it turns good this time.

The page is coming This Friday, and that will be the new days of updates. I'm now working on the past "shades" , well actually my friend does that job but I'm niptick so I end up doing half of it too. See you soon!

As you see here I decided to color the pic I posted a few  weeks ago to update the characters profile with a fresh idea. I'm trying a new direction here moving away from the standars dark themes I used to add for backgrounds. This time, colorful to display a bit of optimism for people interested to take a look into Alpha Luna.
Her background is Luna's house updated for future references.
